algorhythm is a solo music project that started in 1999. Joel MacClellan is algorhythm and vice versa. Joel is from Akron, OH, USA. Joel started playing a drum set at at 14 and later picked up hand-drums and later migrated to electronic-based music composition.

Joel earned his Bachelor of the Arts in Philosophy in August 2002 from The University of Akron with a minor in BioEthics and Certificate of Environmental Studies.  He then spent the next two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama working in Environmental Conservation.  While in Panama, he met the love of his life, Stephanie Miranda, whom he married on N25 November, 2005.  Since Fall of 2005, Joel has been pursuing a PhD in Philosophy with a specialization in Applied Ethics and a concentration in History of Modern Philosophy at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
